Why Ventilation Gets Inspected
Poor attic ventilation traps heat and moisture, accelerating wear on shingles and underlayment from below — and can affect some manufacturer warranties.
What Inspectors Check
Intake vents (usually at the soffit) and exhaust vents (usually near the ridge) are checked for balance, blockages, and whether there’s enough total ventilation for the attic’s size.
Signs Of A Ventilation Problem
Excessive attic heat, musty odors, or visible moisture on the underside of the roof deck are common signs worth having assessed.
Fixing Ventilation Issues
Solutions range from adding or unblocking vents to rebalancing intake and exhaust — often addressed alongside a roof replacement since the deck is already exposed, but can be handled on its own too.

“Ricketts handled our roof repair after a bad storm and made the whole process easy — showed up when they said they would, explained what was actually wrong, and kept the property clean every day. Would recommend them to anyone in South Florida.”
